Happy Tuesday! We hope everyone is having a lovely day. It’s rainy and dreary here today, but you know what they say…April Showers bring May Flowers! Today we are bringing to you another stunning quilt tutorial for this week’s How To’s Day! The quilt design we are sharing with you is Quilt Bars by Tammy Silvers of Tamarinis – a simplistic, yet fresh and versatile quilt that works with a multitude of different fabric designs.

The clean cut lines of this quilt design by Tammy give a very modern and geometrically pleasing look, perfect to showcase coordinating fabric colors and patterns. For this tutorial, we have used our Mint Condition by Jackie McFee Collection and the mint & grey patterns compliment each other perfectly in this quilt!

This would be a great quilt to gift, for both genders and any age! We can imagine this quilt with some soft pastels for a “baby’s first quilt” or this quilt in dark navy hues for a boy quilt. Today is this week’s Thankful Thursday! We have gotten the opportunity to work with so many creative and inspiring people, and today we are thanking someone who is definitely those two things…and much, much more! Today we are thanking one of our quilt designers, Vanessa Fromm of Fabric Confetti.

Vanessa Fromm was an avid sewer from the beginning! As a child, she shared her love for sewing with her grandmother, started to make her own clothing in junior high & high school, and even sewed her own prom dress! How amazing!! After finishing her higher education (by getting a BFA degree in medical illustration and an MBA), she began her career as a middle school English teacher. But even so, her love for sewing remained and Vanessa started getting into quilting again, and eventually machine appliqué. She started Fabric Confetti™, a business dedicated to quilt patterns, fabric appliqué designs, and yes of course – fabric confetti!

We had the privilege of partnering with Vanessa to create an exclusive quilt design for us! Vanessa created a stunning and modern Chevron Quilt for us with our What’s Cookin’ by Allison Cole Collection. The Chevron Quilt is free to download on our website, and can be found here! :)

Vanessa has such a clean and fresh design esthetic that we adore, and fits perfectly with us at Camelot Fabrics. Thank you so much, Vanessa, for creating a wonderful quilt design for us. Happy Tuesday! It is also the first of April today!! And April Fools Day! Did anyone try pulling a prank on someone else or got a prank pulled on them? :) We love a brilliant joke or prank here in the office, as long as it’s all in good fun! Happy pranking! :)

We are starting off April with this week’s How To’s Day. Today we are going to share with you another one of our quilt designs – Our Flying High Quilt by Swirly Girls Design for Camelot Fabrics. This quilt design is playful and modernistic, with the triangles creating an awesome “flying high” pattern (almost like geese!) that works wonderfully with our Take Flight Collection. The tiered triangles also give this otherwise simple and clean design more of a bold statement!

This quilt design would look fantastic with any collection, and is perfect as a kid’s quilt or for snuggling with on the couch, but we especially adore it with our Take Flight Collection. Happy Friday! That’s right…it’s Friday!! Remember when we said that we were excited that the weather was getting nicer yesterday? Well, we woke up to SNOW this morning. Madness. It’s the end of March, and we are still getting Winter weather! Let’s hope it all melts away before April comes! :)

It’s time for this week’s Fan Friday post! Today we are sharing with you a couple of adorable baby quilts sewn by Heather K. The two baby quilts use different color-ways from our Day at the Zoo Collection, one highlighting the rustic orange bark design and the other mixing greens & blues. The craftsmanship of the quilts is stunning, and the choice in quilt patterns are so lovely! It goes perfectly with the collection. Our Day at the Zoo Collection features charming lions, owls, hippos, and other friendly critters with a mix of neutral colours that would be perfect for any baby- or kid-friendly project.

Heather made these two quilts for two cousins who each have baby boys. Noland was born in January and another cousin adopted an infant, Michael, last Fall. Heather is from a big Irish, Catholic family, and her and her cousins were all the first born daughters! She decided to make baby quilts for the newest little ones in the family – such a sweet gift! :)

We are big cat lovers here at Camelot Fabrics, so this photo just warms our hearts!! Heather’s kittie, Steve McQueen (umm, epic name by the way!), definitely approves of the quilts, shown here helping Heather with the binding:

Let’s begin the new season with our Thankful Thursday . We have been partnering with many incredibly talented quilt designers to create exclusive quilt designs for our Free Projects Program! Have you seen all the pretty quilt designs yet? If not, be sure to check them out here. One quilt designer we had the privilege to partner with is Chris Hoover of Whirligig Designs, so today we are taking time to thank the lovely Chris!

Chris Hoover started quilting over 24 years ago, a hobby that very quickly became a new passion. A mix of both traditional and more modern quilt designs, Chris’ designs are very much influenced by the fabric collections she uses, and sees inspiration for her quilt designs from architecture and nature! Chris started Whirligig Designs about 10 years ago when she started quilt designing, a company that has quickly gained success for her trustworthy, concise, and wonderful quilt patterns.

We had the privilege of partnering with Whirligig Designs, and Chris designed two stunning quilts for us. The first is Framed using our Nightfall Collection, a simple yet eclectic quilt design that perfectly showcases our black and gold collection – soso beautiful!!

The second is Box Trot using our Let’s Go by Andrea Turk for Cinnamon Joe Studio Collection. This quilt design is a very clean-looking quilt with an almost gradation effect of color – very modern and lovely!

We adore Chris’ quilt design and style, and absolutely love the quilt designs she created for us – Thank you so much, Chris!!
