Hi everyone!

Happy Friday!! We hope you all had a fantastic week. But guess what? It’s almost the weekend!! And what else that is awesome is our giveaway – we are giving away a Neon & On FQ Bundle on our Facebook Page this week. Be sure to head on over there to enter! :)

Time to end another fun week with a Fan Friday post! Today we are featuring Simply Stitched by Sara, an Etsy shop dedicated to providing high-quality, handmade baby essentials such as baby blankets, bibs, burp cloths, hand-cut appliqued clothing, and more! Sara Sebero Bryant, owner and creator of Simply Stitched by Sara, loves modern fabric designs with bold, bright, and fun prints & colors. She chooses and uses these fabrics for her baby essentials, making them equally fabulous and on-trend. Sara is also a stay-at-home mommy of two and military wife & veteran. She learned how to sew at a young age, sitting on her mother’s lap while she sewed…and her passion for sewing only grew as she did. She was able to turn her passion into a business, creating unique baby essentials and sharing them with the world.

Sara loves our What a Gem and Penelope Collections, and used them in her designs. We thought they were beautiful, and just had to share her creations with all of you. The first is a baby bandana, which is as adorable as it is stylish. The baby bandana is “a creative and unique alternative to the traditional bib – the bandana bib will have your little one drooling in style, while keeping them dry”. We love the idea, and we definitely agree that any little one will be rocking with style in our What a Gem collection.

The next project we absolutely adore is this Luxurious Chenille Burp Cloth, with our Penelope collection. In addition to being gorgeous and cuddly, this burp blanket is “designed for the hip, trendy parents on the go to withstand the ickiest and messiest of spills and spits”. Any baby using this chenille burp cloth will definitely feel posh and comforted! LOVE!!

05 September

Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday!! We hope everyone’s day is as sunny and wonderful as our is today. We are definitely thankful for the warmer weather and longer days; it’s such a lovely change to still have the glimmering of sun peaking through at 8 PM. Here’s to Summer!! (officially on Sunday, in fact!)

It’s also time for another thank you, one closer and more dear to our hearts. We had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with the ever-so-talented Kristy Daum of St. Louis Folk Victorian to create some stunning pillow patterns for us! Kristy had started her love for sewing as a child, and this spark only flourished to a love for quilting! She currently resides is St. Louis, Missouri and is the founder and President of the St. Louis Modern Quilt Guild. As well, she has lectured and taught at several quilt workshops and events, and loves modern quilting! She also has her own line of patterns, all of which you can find on Etsy and Craftsy! Be sure to check them out, because her designs are awesome (…and so is she, of course)!!

Kristy created four pillow patterns for us for our Free Projects Program, two of which are now available on our website! One of her patterns is called Around The Block which is a fun pillow pattern of geometrically placed, isosceles triangles that create a super cool and modern effect. We absolutely love how it looks with our Black & Tan Collection! Another pillow pattern that Kristy created for us is called Elevation, which a stunning gradation of triangles in a chevron alignment. We love the simplicity of this pattern, and how there is so much flexibility to play around with different color ways and fabric designs. Such a seamless design!

Kristy also sewed the Elevation pillow for us with our What A Gem Collection, and it looks incredible (even more-so in person, if you can imagine!). We lovelovelove how the chevron pattern goes perfectly with the feathers and arrow designs in this line, and how the colors are in an almost ombred effect! Kristy did an absolutely fantastic job sewing this together for us, and we cannot thank her enough for doing it in a shorter timeframe. Kristy also blogged about Elevation on her blog, so be sure to check out the post here! You’ll find more information on the how-to for the construction of the pillow.

Be sure to check out the Elevation and Around The Block pillow patterns on our website, both of which are available as free patterns! Thank you SOSO much, Kristy, for being such an incredible person to partner with – all of your patterns are super clear and easy-to-follow and it has been an absolutely pleasure working with you thus far. We hope this is the beginning of a wonderful partner/friendship! Be sure to check our Kristy’s blog for lots more, as well as her Etsy Shop, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest!! Lots of fun stuff on quilting, sewing, fabric, and more to be found. Have an awesome rest of the day, everyone!

19 June

Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday!! We hope everyone is having an excellent day! We are super excited for Mother’s Day weekend: Moms (and future moms!), what would be your ideal day of relaxation? :) We would love to know!

It’s time for this week’s Thankful Thursday! Today we are featuring one of wonderfully kind and talented quilt designers, Larene Smith of The Quilted Button! Larene began her for sewing at a very young age – when her mum warned her not to touch her sewing machine, as a child, Larene only became even more intrigued. As she got older, she asked her mum to teach her to make a quilt and learnt to a 9 patch quilt. From there, Larene’s love for sewing, quilting, and fabric only grew!

But it was her connection with the Material Possessions Quilt Shop that really got her started. They saw the creative spark in Larene – her designs were unique and she had a lot of different techniques, and she should be teaching a class! She met with Wendy, and started off with her first teaching class. From there, Larene has continued her passion for quilting, creating so many beautiful quilt patterns, and of course teaching!

We had the privilege of partnering with Larene, who has created some really lovely quilt patterns for our Free Projects Program. All of her patterns are easy to follow and concise, and it has been an absolutely pleasure working with Larene thus far. She has been very guiding and sweet to us, as we are still learning new things everyday about the quilting and pattern world! Some of Larene’s quilt patterns include Border Blast, Diamond Sparkle, and Whimsical…and there are more to come!

Aren’t these quilt designs just stunning? We are so happy to have found Larene and are so ecstatic for what’s to come!! And yes, there may possibly be a physical quilt coming very soon ;) Stay tuned! Thank you so much for the wonderful partnership thus far, Larene, we adore working with you!  You can check out Larene’s website for more goodies. Have a good one everyone!

08 May

Hi everyone!

Happy Monday! We hope everyone is having a marvelous day so far. Today is New Year’s Eve…Eve (yes, it is now a thing ;)). There is still much to celebrate. Coming near to the end of 2013, we wonder where the time went by but so many amazing things have happened this year that we could not be happier. We’re excited for 2014 to come around to be yet another fantastic year!

Along with it being Monday, it’s time to share with you another moodboard. Today’s Moody Monday is inspired by What a Gem by Allison Cole. What a Gem had come out with our Fall 2013 collection, and is just bursting with color and character. This collection has a bohemian yet modern vibe with its tribal prints, arrows, feathers, dream catchers, and rich hues of pinks, navy, and emerald. This collection is perfect for your little boho youngsters or yourself; imagine a What a Gem bow tie, play tent, or trapeze dress – oh how cute right? When we see What a Gem, we think dancing in flowing dresses and frolicking through luscious forests. Check our moodboard for even more inspiration:

Now to add some fashion inspiration into the mix! With its luscious, warm hues and boho feel, the 2014 Spring RTW collection by Sacai reminds us of What a Gem. The Sacai collection is a wonderful mix of rich blues, pinks, and greens in mainly sleek silhouettes, but with dashes of tribal in its fringe and mesh details. We adore this collection, and tribal will definitely be a trend for the upcoming seasons! Check out the full collection here.

We hope we have inspired you today with our What a Gem moodboard and fashion trends! This is also the last official Moody Monday of 2013 – wow, see you next year!! Have a Happy New Year everyone :)

30 December

Hello everyone!!

Happy Tuesday! We’ve officially been getting a trinkle of snow here, which only means one thing. The holiday season is officially here! Well, Christmas is 42 days away (but who’s counting, right? ;)) but there is still lots to do and prepare for before the big day. But likewise, it’s those days leading up that makes the holiday magical and special. Putting up the glistening decorations, singing carols with your friends and family, building snowmen and drinking hot cocoa, baking lots of scrumptious holiday treats, reading Christmas stories by the fire, and of course going out in the hustle & bustle to shop for all your loved ones. Seeing a person’s face light up when they open up their present from you, there truly is no better feeling.

And speaking of gifts to give, we’ve got some fantastic DIY projects you can use for this upcoming holiday season that are beautiful and thoughtful. There truly is something very special about receiving something that someone took the time to make especially for you. Today we share with you another great DIY project that would make the perfect gift or stocking stuffer: our Coin Purse/Card Wallet, using our Allison Cole What A Gem and Portland collections.

In this week’s tutorial we featured a couple of patterns by our licensed designer, Allison Cole. For our Portland card wallet we used 8140504 #1, Bikes & Vespas in Grey. For the What a Gem coin purse we used 8140603 #1, Navy Gems.
