Happy Sunday! We are bringing you a very special, extra post this week because today is May the 4th which means…it’s #StarWarsDay!! This is for all our fellow Star Wars fans; we’ve got some fun things happening at Camelot Fabrics that we wanted to share with you today in honor of May the 4th! :)

Firstly, some May the 4th facts! Of course, the iconic phrase “may the force be with you” sparked the now celebrated May 4th as Star Wars Day. But, the first time the phrase was used was on May 4th, 1979 when Margaret Thatcher became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. As a congratulatory advertisement in the newspaper, her party wrote “May the 4th be with you, Maggie, Congratulation”. May 4th is now coined as Star Wars Day and is celebrated worldwide by Star Wars fans, with organized events, parties, games, and more!

We are also celebrating Star Wars Day here at Camelot Fabrics and are giving away 4 Yards of our Glow-in-the-Dark Star Wars fabric this week! The giveaway is on our Facebook Page, so be sure to head on over there to enter by telling us who your favorite SW character is and why! The giveaway ends this Wednesday, so be sure to enter is you haven’t yet soon.

And lastly, we want to leave all our Star Wars fans with something to look forward to. We are SO thrilled that you have enjoyed our past Star Wars fabric collections, showcasing your amazing projects with us, and for all your wonderful comments! We absolutely love hearing your stories and we hope to continue to inspire your projects & crafts! Yes, that’s right SW fans – We are launching a brand new Star Wars fabric collection for Spring 2014, and we are sure you will absolutely adore it! We cannot wait for you to see the collection! We will be sharing a sneak peak of it at Spring QM, and lots more to come this month!! VERY exciting stuff!! :)

It’s time for some more “thank yous” with this week’s Thankful Thursday. Today we are going to share our wonderful feature in the Craft Ideas April 2014 Digital Magazine. Craft Ideas is an incredible source for all things craft- and DIY-related – from quilting to clay to beading, and everything in-between, they are a fantastic crafting hub for every sort of project you will want to try.

Craft Ideas publishes print magazines throughout the year, dedicated to the yearly trends and holidays, as well as digital editions! Moreover, they have a correlating Craft Ideas website and blog to share even more crafting tips and project tutorials with their readers! Every week, they post informative videos on their YouTube channel featuring their editor, Annie Niemics! They always provide great insight and reviews on new products or projects.

They also send out weekly e-newsletters that their followers can sign up to, to get the latest in the crafting community. They feature bloggers, giveaways, and fun things – after the 2014 CHA Show, they loved our products and decided to give us a super sweet shout-out:

Craft Ideas also featured two of our free tutorials in their May 2014 digital edition. They featured the tutorials for our Plush Stegosaurus and “Love You Forever” Tree Trunk Bolster tutorials! It was SO cool to see our tutorials featured, and are so glad they are enjoyed. We hope the readers like our project ideas!

We wanted to say thank you to Craft Ideas for being an awesome crafting source, and for featuring us and our projects in their latest digital edition. Happy Friday! It’s time to round out the week with our Fan Friday post! Today we are sharing a very cute and sweet pattern shop, Create Kids Couture. Shannon and Tiffany are the two creative ladies behind Create Kids Couture, a fun pattern boutique that started in July 2011 with only 5 patterns. From there, the boutique quickly grew in popularity and have now expanded to over 300 patterns for babies, women, tweens, boys, dolls, and more! With Create Kids Couture, they strive to create patterns that are both easy to follow and pretty – ruffles and anything girly are a must!

Inspiration for their designs is often sparked from their daughters’ tastes and surroundings, but for their Ginger’s One Shoulder Dress, they were inspired by our In The Navy by Jackie McFee collection! So sweet so hear, and it seriously made our WEEK! The goal was to create a dress with the fabric collection that was summery and showcased a multitude of designs…and we definitely think they succeeded! The tiered design of this maxi dress is super lovely and we adore the bottom ruffled layer (we agree that one can never wear too many ruffles or color!). The pattern also comes with a top version, which is fantastic. This is the perfect cruise or garden party dress for a sweet, little girl!

She is absolutely adorable!! :) And the matching rose headband and necklace are perfect accessories!

Hi everyone!

Happy Wednesday!! We hope everyone’s day has been great so far. It is absolutely freezing here today (thankfully we hadn’t put away our winter coats yet!), but at least the sunshine is out. We are bringing Spring to the office by decorating with all our beautiful, freshly cut flowers. If Mother Nature isn’t giving us Spring weather yet, we’re bringing it to ourselves haha! :)

Happy Tuesday! We hope everyone is having a fantastic day. We are excitedly preparing for some Easter festivities here at the office, including a fun Easter egg hunt and pastel washi tape wall décor. We’re excited!! And to those who celebrate, Happy First Day of Passover! :)

It’s also time for this week’s How To’s Day! Today we are sharing a fantastic project for you all, just in time for all the upcoming Spring celebrations. We love celebrating anything, but there is nothing as pretty as a springtime tea party infused with all things colorful and bright…and of course, lots of fresh florals all around!

With the amount of celebrations we have throughout the year, we are always up for the challenge of decorating to our heart’s content! We love crafty and DIY parties, and we always find a ton of inspiration on our Pinterest. The project we are sharing today, our Square Bunting Banner Tutorial, is perfect for any occasion or party – it is simple, but adds the perfect amount of punch to any décor, especially with our Neon & On Collection. And because this is made from fabric, it can be reused for multiple occasions, and can be used later on to decorate a bedroom!
