Welcome!

Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday! We hope everyone is having an exceptionally brilliant day. It’s a lovely winter day here today with the sun shining, the temperature being pretty mild, and the glistening of the fresh snow is pretty.

We have got another Thankful Thursday to share! Today we are taking the time to thank Wilma, one of our amazing quilters. Wilma created a four beautiful quilts for us that we’ve used for the past two Quilt Markets. We have received such outstanding and positive comments at Quilt Market on our quilts, and we have Wilma to thank for that.

We wanted to thank Wilma for all the hard work and dedication for sewing all the quilts for us, we truly appreciate it! Wilma did use a couple of outside quilt patterns. As well, we wanted to thank Michelle from Hypernoodle, as she was the one who connected us with Wilma. The collections used for the quilts are Hand Picked by Jackie McFee, Imaginarium by The Camelot Design Studio, The Design Studio Collection by The Camelot Design Studio, and Gray Matters by Jackie McFee. We also have all these collections in Fat Quarter Bundles! Be sure to check out the stunning quilts below:

Hi everyone!

Happy Wednesday! We hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far. The workweek is almost halfway through, and the month of January is almost coming to an end as well. Wow, where has the time gone? We are busily (and excitedly!) coming up with some fun Valentine’s Day themed things for the blog so be sure to keep your eyes on the lookout. Stay tuned for lots of love-themed things!

And speaking of love, we absolutely LOVED reading all of your comments from our Iconic Fabric Giveaway. This has honestly been our favourite giveaway to date, because we have very much enjoyed reading all of your comments. We will not deny keeping the giveaway link as one of our tabs and happily refreshing the page throughout the day for any new comments. It was so exciting to hear someone squeal “A new comment!” before the rest of us would giddily rush to read it so we could all swoon together. Thank you to everyone for making our hearts happy! We love…love!

The most difficult thing about this giveaway was choosing a winner. Everyone in the Design Studio had different (and multiple!) favorite answers, and so alas we decided the only fair thing would be to choose at random. How can you choose a favorite romantic moment?! They were all SO good. But only one winner could be chosen, and with the kind help of a randomizer, we have found our winner. Our Iconic Giveaway winner is….

…. Delaine!! And just for another swoon-worthy moment, here is her comment: “I saw an old black and white photo of a very elderly couple standing outside in a light snow storm.  They were turned toward each other, and the gentleman had his hand cupping her cheek.  She was looking up at him.  They were looking straight into each others’ eyes.  You could just tell that they loved each other immensely and they probably weren’t even aware of the snow at that moment.  It is the most beautifully emotional photo that I have ever seen.” – Awwww!! Absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful right?! Thank you so much for sharing, Delaine.

Once again, congratulations Delaine! We will be contacting you by email, so be sure to check so that we can send along your amazing FQ bundle :) As well, thank you to everyone who participated in our Iconic Giveaway. We love you all for participating, sharing your wonderful memories, and for warming our hearts. Be sure to stay tuned for next week’s giveaway…it’s going to be another wonderful one! Until next time…

Hi everyone!

Happy Tuesday! We hope everyone is having a fantastic day. Today is How To’s Day on the blog, and we’ve got one of the most adorable DIY tutorials to share with you.

Today’s tutorial is on our DIY Raccoon Softie Pillow. He’s soft, he’s squishy, and he’s super sweet. He is the perfect cuddling friend for all your little (and big!) loved ones! A person can never have too many plush toys or pillows, and this little guy is the perfect mix of both and would make anyone happy. Whether as a newborn baby’s first stuffie, a cuddler for a little one, or a pillow friend for anyone…no one will be able to resist his absolutely charming and friendly face!

Hi everyone!

Happy Monday! How was everyone’s weekend? The weather here was pretty mild, but the snow started to come down last night and it is officially a blizzard out there. We definitely have had our share of a winter wonderland here now. Very cold, very windy, and very white! :) Oh – have you entered our Iconic Giveaway yet? Let us know what you think is the most iconic, hopeless romantic moment to enter!

To start off this week, we’ve got our Moody Monday for you all. Today we are sharing with your our Fairyville by Heather Rosas moodboard. We could use a little sprinkle of magic dust from the weather fairy!

Our Fairyville collection is absolutely adorable – a super sweet, frilly, and girly fabric collection full of magic and imagination. This collection features little fairies living in their tree and apple houses, amongst their animal friends. Oh, how darling right?

The colors are pastel and soft – a mix of delightful greens, pinks, and yellows – making the collection very pretty and airy. It would be the perfect collection for a girl-themed, whimsical room or for the loveliest dress for your fairy-in-training! Check out the full collection here. As well, check out our new Fat Quarter Bundles on our website, which includes our Fairyville collection! :)

One trend that will be especially big this coming Spring 2014 is anything whimsical, whether it be bold floral prints or fluttery tulle skirts, that we drew from inspiration for this week’s Moody Monday. A collection that we were gravitated towards was Mary Katrantzou’s Spring 2014 Collection. There was a beautiful mix of earthy & extravagant patterns and silhouettes from this collection, but we especially adored the splashes of floral color, ruffles, and contemporary silhouettes.

Each of the dresses gave a very ethereal and pretty feel, while still being modern in its fit and style. If a fairy were living here in modern times, these dresses would definitely be what she would wear. Yes, we believe!! You can check out all the fantastical dresses here. Thank you so much for reading today’s post, and we hope you have been inspired :)

27 January

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday everyone! It’s just about the weekend, and we hope everyone has had a blissful week. We can’t believe that there is only a week left of January. How has everyone’s New Years resolutions been coming along? :) We’re only at the beginning of the year, so there’s still time to get started on your goals. Tomorrow is also Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day, a day to celebrate independently-owned quilt shops. So if you’re not sure what to do this weekend, be sure to check out your local quilt shops for special events and more!

It’s also time for another Fan Friday! Today we are sharing a fantastic, geek-approved Etsy Shop called FashionablyGeeky247. Ashley, owner and designer of FashionablyGeeky247, is a full-time college student and started up her shop as a way to showcase her love of all things geeky and crafting.

She custom designs the dresses to each customer and each design can be created with a multitude of fabric options. All of the dresses are very 50s inspired, with their full skirts and bustier tops. Ashley has chosen lots of our Star Wars fabric designs for her dresses, and we definitely needed to share! All the dresses are beautiful and look amazing with our Star Wars designs.

In the wise words of Ashley herself, “I created this shop to give fellow Star Wars fans, Trekkies, and Super Hero lovers a chance to be fashionably geeky. We can wear a dress that shouts I LOVE STAR WARS or I LOVE BATMAN and still have that femininity to attract everyone around us. Guys love geeks and Girls love fashion, so that’s why my store is perfect for the girls who wants to be ‘Fashionably Geeky'”. Definitely well said, who says being “geeky” isn’t also stylish and feminine? :)
