Happy Monday!! We hope everyone had a lovely weekend, and a fantastic May the 4th!! Also – Happy Cinco de Mayo to those who celebrate. Have you entered our Glow-in-the-dark Star Wars Fabric Giveaway yet? There’s still time to enter!!

To start off a brand-new week, we have our Moody Monday! Today we are sharing our Angry Birds Star Wars fabric collection with you all. Yesterday was Star Wars Day, so we wanted to carry on the celebrations into the week by showcasing one of our Star Wars collections. In fact, Star Wars Day had become so popular that May 5th was jokingly pronounced “Revenge of the Fifth” (A play on the Star Wars’ movie “Revenge of the Sith”). On this day, Star Wars fans let their “evil sides” shine through by celebrating the Sith Lords and evil villains from Star Wars.

I guess that could definitely correlate with our Angry Birds Star Wars collection, as the Angry Birds are the Rebels & the Piggies are the Empire! The original Angry Birds game was launched in 2009, and have since accounted for over 2 billions downloads worldwide across all platforms. Since its launch, its popularity has led to game merchandise, collaborations, and future film & television ventures making it the largest mobile app success right now!

The game is actually so much fun, and even more addicting…and Star Wars decided to get on board in 2012. They created a collaborative Angry Birds Star Wars game, and from its success, an Angry Birds Star Wars II the following year. The game includes all of your favorite Star Wars characters, including Luke Skywalker Bird as Red, Han Solo Bird as Chuck, Chewbacca Bird as Terrence, Princess Leia Bird as Stella, and Stormtrooper Pigs! We created a concurrent Angry Birds Star Wars Fabric Collection to correlate with the game, the characters, and its success! The collection is bold and vibrant, including all of your favorite characters in action. Happy Sunday! We are bringing you a very special, extra post this week because today is May the 4th which means…it’s #StarWarsDay!! This is for all our fellow Star Wars fans; we’ve got some fun things happening at Camelot Fabrics that we wanted to share with you today in honor of May the 4th! :)

Firstly, some May the 4th facts! Of course, the iconic phrase “may the force be with you” sparked the now celebrated May 4th as Star Wars Day. But, the first time the phrase was used was on May 4th, 1979 when Margaret Thatcher became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. As a congratulatory advertisement in the newspaper, her party wrote “May the 4th be with you, Maggie, Congratulation”. May 4th is now coined as Star Wars Day and is celebrated worldwide by Star Wars fans, with organized events, parties, games, and more!

We are also celebrating Star Wars Day here at Camelot Fabrics and are giving away 4 Yards of our Glow-in-the-Dark Star Wars fabric this week! The giveaway is on our Facebook Page, so be sure to head on over there to enter by telling us who your favorite SW character is and why! And lastly, we want to leave all our Star Wars fans with something to look forward to. Yes, that’s right SW fans – We are launching a brand new Star Wars fabric collection for Spring 2014, and we are sure you will absolutely adore it! We cannot wait for you to see the collection! We will be sharing a sneak peak of it at Spring QM, and lots more to come this month!! VERY exciting stuff!! :)

Happy Friday!! Great way to the end the week with a pretty day – a lovely change from the wind and rain we’ve been getting lately. There are also two more days until #StarWarsDay and in honor of May the 4th, we are hosting a Glow-in-the-Dark Star Wars fabric giveaway on our Facebook Page – Click here to enter!

To round up another wonderful week, we have our Fan Friday for you all today! Marion Omont used our Fleece Fox Hat & Tail Tutorial to create an absolutely adorable fleece fox hat and tail for her son. Marion’s son had a school carnival to attend and the kids were able to dress up! She remembered seeing our fox hat & tail tutorial on our Pinterest – a project she had wanted to make for a while but never got the chance to. She showed the costume idea to her son, who eagerly approved, and in a couple of hours his fox costume was created! Finishing the look with a cute nose and some whiskers, Marion’s son is one of the most precious foxes we have ever seen!

Marion – you did an absolutely incredible job with the fox hat and tail! Your little gray fox is so cute and we hope he enjoyed his school’s carnival all decked out. Thank you so much for sharing your project with us and for letting us know you enjoyed our tutorial! We are so happy that it came out wonderfully. Craft Ideas publishes print magazines throughout the year, dedicated to the yearly trends and holidays, as well as digital editions! Moreover, they have a correlating Craft Ideas website and blog to share even more crafting tips and project tutorials with their readers! Every week, they post informative videos on their YouTube channel featuring their editor, Annie Niemics! They always provide great insight and reviews on new products or projects.

They also send out weekly e-newsletters that their followers can sign up to, to get the latest in the crafting community. They feature bloggers, giveaways, and fun things – after the 2014 CHA Show, they loved our products and decided to give us a super sweet shout-out:

Craft Ideas also featured two of our free tutorials in their May 2014 digital edition. They featured the tutorials for our Plush Stegosaurus and “Love You Forever” Tree Trunk Bolster tutorials! It was SO cool to see our tutorials featured, and are so glad they are enjoyed. We hope the readers like our project ideas!
