Time for our Thankful Thursday! Today we are featuring one of our absolute favorite quilting magazines, Love Patchwork & Quilting. Full of modern projects and fabulous color inspiration, Love Patchwork & Quilting is bringing on a new wave to the quilting world. No longer a hobby that is seen as “uncool”, quilting has definitely taken a new direction into being a fun, fresh, and creative craft. There is so much that can be created in quilting – not just your standard square patchworks – and Love Patchwork & Quilting is the place to find that inspiration. Based in the UK, this modern quilting magazine features favorite fabric collections, unique project patterns, and so much more!

Love Patchwork & Quilting has featured our fabrics in a couple of their issues – it’s always fun finding our fabric, like a mini “where’s waldo?”. In their holiday issue, they featured our Peacock Garden by Jane Farnham collection in their “Love Fabric” section. It was so wonderful seeing the beautiful pink and mint-inspired spread. They included a little write-up on Peacock Garden, with love to the crisp color palette and the sweet peacock designs.

You can find more from Love Patchwork & Quilting on their website, Facebook Page, Pinterest, and Twitter. They’ve even got an app now. And with that, have a lovely day everyone!

Hi everyone,

Happy Thursday! We hope you are all having a fantastic day so far!! There’s one more day until Spring, and we can’t wait!! Want to know something else that’s sweet? Today is National Chocolate Caramel Day. Um, yes it’s a thing. I mean, chocolate and caramel are delicious on their own; together they’re just magic!

Time for this week’s Thankful Thursday! Today we are featuring a project from one of our pattern designs, Chris Hoover of Whirligig Designs. One of the first projects featured in our Free Projects Program, our Box Trot Quilt by Whirligig Designs continues to be a favorite! The linear, box-y design of our Box Trot Quilt makes it perfect for highlighting many different fabric designs into one quilt. This quilt gives the sewer a lot of creative freedom to match different colors and designs together, to create a beautifully uniform look. We’ve used our Box Trot quilt to highlight different fabric collections, but love the idea of using it as a modern graduating or collage quilt too.

We decided to have our Box Trot Quilt sewn up in one of our Fall 2014 collections, Wildflowers by Alisse Courter. The warm peach, chartreuse, and grey tones work wonderfully together in this block quilt. Chris quilted Box Trot for us, and gosh, it looks so pristine and perfect in person – just as it does in our template (but better!). Chris is an extremely talented quilter; the floral quilting works perfectly with Wildflowers. The result is a gorgeous, clean-looking quilt that would add a great pop of color to any feminine space.

Thank you SO much, Chris, for the incredible quilt pattern and for sewing the physical quilt for us. We absolutely LOVE it! You can find the free PDF printout for the Box Trot Quilt on our website here. As well, be sure to check out more from Chis on her website. And with that, have a terrific day!

Hi everyone,

Happy Thursday! We hope you are having a terrific day so far. If you haven’t seen yet, we are hosting a new #Winsday on our Facebook Page. We are giving away an FQ bundle of our Scented fabrics, and want to know what your favorite scent is!

It’s Thankful Thursday time! Today we are featuring Crafts Direct – a fantastic craft store in Minnesota, that has been around since 1990 and growing! Crafts Direct is composed of distinct sections dedicated to all of your crafting needs, and when we say all, we mean it (haha). They have a quilt shop, floral shop, scrapbook shop, seasonal shop, wood & paint shop, and rubber stamps shop. Yup, they basically have it all – a place where the whole family can visit and find something they’ll enjoy! And that definitely makes sense, as family is super important to Crafts Direct – it’s a family-owned business that has grown from 15 to 120 employees.

And, once you’ve spent the day mesmerized by all the crafting deliciousness, they also have a coffee shop for a shopping break. Crafts Direct is also expanded to online, where they share unique projects and tutorials on their blog, featuring their favorite products. We absolutely love how dedicated and passionate Crafts Direct is, about their customers and products!

12 March

Hi everyone,

Happy Thursday! We hope you all are having a fantastic day. It’s sunny, it’s cheery, but it’s still cold here haha. Spring, where are you? We promise to greet you with open arms.

It’s time for this week’s Thankful Thursday. Today, we wanted to share a couple of projects from one of our pattern designers – The Cloth Parcel. Run by a dynamic mother-daughter duo, Audrey and Diane, The Cloth Parcel is an online sewing, quilting, and crafting supplies shop. From a beautiful selection of fabrics to all of your notion-needs, The Cloth Parcel is dedicated to supplying you with all your crafting needs. As well, they sell wonderful kits  for some awesome projects. In addition to running their online supplies shop, Audrey and Diane also create and sell their own quilt patterns!

We have had the pleasure of working with Audrey and Diane, to create a quilt pattern for our Free Projects Program. Their Tumbling Jewels Quilt is a stunner, and has definitely been a favorite on the interwebs! We decided to have a physical Tumbling Jewels Quilt made up with our London Fog Collection (as seen above!), and it looks absolutely fantastic. As always, beautiful quilt work by the girls. We had a blast styling it, and we can’t wait to feature it in upcoming events.

As well, the girls recently launched a new quilt design on their website called Theory of Refraction. Aside from the super cool name (any fellow physics buffs?), their Theory of Refraction Quilt is so lovely to look at. They chose to feature our Peacock Garden by Jane Farnham Collection on the pattern cover, and it looks wonderful! Inspired by a prism, we adore how the colors and patterns intertwine with one another in this quilt design, to create a beautiful look. Great choice, girls!

Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday! We hope you all are having a great day so far. We’re hosting another Winsday this week, our No-Sew Pillow Cover Kit including May Arts Ribbon and our Wildflowers Collection. You can enter on our Facebook Page here.

Time for this week’s Thankful Thursday! Today we are featuring one of our fantastic pattern designers, Joanne Hillestad of The Fat Quarter Gypsy. We have previously featured Joanne in a Thankful Thursday, but we wanted to share some new, fabulous projects that Joanne had been working on. And, we’re also introducing an honorary member to The Fat Quarter Gypsy – her son! Joanne’s son designed a pattern for our Free Projects Program, and we think that he is the coolest ever. On top of that, his quilt is just as amazing!

theforce

Inspired by Star Wars, his “The Force” Quilt includes a lightsaber-esque pattern to create a super neat look. Our “The Forces” Quilt definitely looks fantastic in our Star Wars Collection, but we think it will look great in a modern collection too (ie. Gypsy Lane). You can create your very own “The Forces” Quilt – find the free PDF printout here. A big thank you to Joanne’s son!

FQGypsy SweetUpsAndDowns3

Another fun project is one of Joanne’s latest quilt designs – Sweet Ups and Downs. This beautiful quilt is a chevron pattern, with a chevron-ed edge that we are in love with. Such a stunning look! The pattern also includes two different sizes, twin and baby-sized, so lots of options to create. Joanne made a Sweet Ups and Downs in our Design Studio Collection, and it’s really just so pretty. We love the contrast between the black and blue in the chevron design!

Thank you so much for sharing it with us, Joanne, and for choosing our collection! And thank you to Joanne’s son for the fantastic design. We’re predicting even more design amazing-ness for you! You can find the “The Forces” Quilt printout PDF here. As well, you can also find out more from The Fat Quarter Gypsy on her website, blog, and Facebook. Have a lovely day, everyone!
