How To’s Day: No-Sew Pillow Tutorial

January 13th, 2015 by Camelot Fabrics

Hi everyone,

Happy Tuesday! We hope you all are having a great day. Another Tuesday, another fun DIY project for you all..

Yup, that’s right! It’s time for this week’s How To’s Day! Today we are featuring our beautiful No-Sew Pillow Tutorial. This relatively simple project is especially perfect for beginners, who are just starting to get into the crafting world. This tutorial does not require a ton of time to make, so it’s a great project for transforming any interior space. Having guests over but want to quickly spruce up your living room? Need to film a pretty, but quick DIY project for a friend? Feeling crafty, but don’t have a sewing machine? This is the project for you! (…and anyone else just looking for a fun project to try! ;))

Make a plethora of them and pile them all together on the floor to lie in! So so comfy! As well, we shared our No-Sew Pillow with our Pastel Me More Collection – the colors are fresh, happy, and exuberant – but this pillow would look amazing with any print.

TOOLS & SUPPLIES

For each pillow:
– 1 yard of Pastel me More quilting cotton (44” wide) from Camelot Fabrics*
– Pillow form of your choice
- Hole punch
– 24” of ribbon
– Scissors
– Measuring tape

NOTE:
1 yard of 44” wide cotton is enough to wrap a pillow up to 20” square, or a regular bed pillow (twin to king). To find out exactly how much fabric you’ll need, we recommend taking your pillow form along with you to the fabric store.

ASSEMBLY:
1. Wrap the cotton around the pillow form, Right Side outward, with the selvage edges overlapping.

2. Fold the loose fabric at one end of the pillow “present style” – fold each corner toward the center of the fabric to form a pointed flap.
3. Punch a hole through all layers of the fabric, about 2” from the tips of the fabric flaps at each end of the pillow.
4. Thread your ribbon through the (2) holes and tie the ends together snugly to secure the flaps in place against the back of the pillow.

I am concerned the fabric will tear without some extra fabric attached to the holes where the yarn goes through. (under the flaps) Won’t the pressure of someone using the pillow behind them pull the fabric too much? Love the wrapped idea though. I can see myself using old pillows to give a new look.

    Thanks.
