FAN FRIDAY: CINZIA

June 17th, 2016 by Camelot Fabrics

Hello Everyone!  What better way to end the week than by announcing another ribbon!

If you happen to be near Toronto (located in Ontario, Canada), don’t miss the Quilt Canada 2016 show ending June 18th.  And make sure to see Cinzia’s Fill the Void quilt that won 1st place in the Modern category.  You might have already seen the quilt as it has won awards at QuiltCon and VQF.

Cinzia finished the quilt in 2014.  It was machine pieced, hand-quilted with Perle Cotton Thread #8 and has an invisible Binding.  She started out wanting to create the Double Wedding Ring pattern but as she is an improv quilter, it took another route and I must say that it is simply stunning.

I love her description of Fill the Void: Quantum physics shows us that we are all connected in this great universe and that space is not space, but actually energy. All the thoughts, actions and energy we project into the universe are interconnected. Whatever we do and whomever we meet becomes a part of us.

You can read all about her creation process in the blog she called Working past the self-doubt.

Congratulations Cinzia!
